Question:

My dog wakes me up at 3:00 a.m.!?

My dog has been sleeping on my bed since last september. But now, (since I rearranged my room) she always sleeps in front of the door. Then around 2:00 or 3:00 a.m., she starts scratching on the door, and yowling. Then I have to get up (because she is so loud,) and take her outside, and I usually leave her out there.

I want to make her sleep in the garage (where she used to sleep,) but she's a 7-year old Siberian Husky, and although I know that Siberian Huskies can withstand extreme heat (the garage has no AC,) I don't feel comfortable leaving her out there.

What do I do?

Thanks In Advance! :P

  1. put her out at bad time.

  2. before my dog died he used to sleep in my garage, but i put a fan, a bed, and food and water for him so he can be more comfortable in there.

  3. Siberians cannot stand extreme heat.  They can stand extreme cold, not heat.  I wouldn't leave her out there either.  I'd move the bed back where it was and everybody will sleep again.

  4. Well, when she scratches at the door, does she need to go out to use the restroom? If she goes to the bathroom when you let her out at 3:00, you could try picking up her food and water earlier in the evening, so that she doesn't have access to it all night. This way, she may not need to use the restroom at 3:00. If she scratches to go outside just because she likes being outside, then the best thing you can do is ignore her. By letting her out when she whines, you are teaching her that whining is an acceptable way to get what she wants. Ignore her whining (as long as she ISN'T going outside to use the restroom), and she will learn that whining gets her no where. Of course, like I said, you ONLY want to ignore her if she ISN'T using the restroom when she goes out.

    Best of luck.

  5. Beware.... demons wake up at 3.00.. (or 3.15, I'm not sure, but beware either way...)

  6. I thought huskies did better in cold not heat. I wouldn't keep her out in garage in heat. seems cruel. And just like humans dogs have a normal Bowel movement. Maybe you should change the time you feed her at the end of the day.

  7. I am not sure what your question is?Sounds like you got it handled.I would not lock her in the garage. There should be no real reason she has to go out at that time.If it where me I would have a drag line on her and make a correction to let her know I want her to be quite until I wake up.Tilks Mom

  8. If you have one, maybe you could use a spare room?

maybe a laundry room or something?

  9. well this is a tricky one , i have a dog and i love dogs

you might wanna make her a room in a dif part of the house...maybe tell ur parents ..maybe she hears something..maybe theres a sent in the house somewhere that no one else can smell but him/her u should do something about this its not right! __Melissa

  10. <> I don't know who I feel more sorry for... You or the pUp> I think she's just not used to the change in the room> beside changing it back, I would get her maybe a new bed and a new baby of her own . I hate the idea of her sleeping outside OR maybe you could just leave your bedroom door open and she can come or go when she wants and maybe she will stop yowling> I just cant think of a reason why she has suddenly started doing this ??

    <><><> Good Luck

  11. it could be because she has to go to pee. so make sure you let her outside before you go to bed. :)

  12. Well I am not sure why you go to the trouble of taking her outside and don't wait for her to go potty and come back in.  There are a million reasons why she would wake up at 300am.  It could be a car, or a delivery driver, or newspaper person, the bars could be closing.  I would let her out, and give her a time limit, and then bring her back in.  At her age, it is probably getting harder for her to hold her potty all night.

  13. I would not leave my dog outside in the extreme heat! If I were you before going to bed, I would take the dog for a long walk to wear her out. She may be waking up in the middle of the night because she has to pee so when you walk her, make sure she relieves herself. Hopefully by wearing her out on the walk, she will pass right out and sleep through the night.

  14. You could get her more exercise through the day so that she is tired enough to sleep through the night. Or you could stop her from sleeping at the front door and keep her away from whatever it is that is waking her up at that time.

  15. Try letting her out just before you go to bed. She might need to pee!?

  16. buy your dog a dog house

  17. No dog can withstand extreme heat, especially ones bred for ARTIC climates.

Maybe she has a medical issue causing her to need to go out in the middle of the night. How about a vet visit instead of banishment to the garage.

  18. I know how you feel.My girl wakes me as soon as it gets light.

She as always slept in my bedroom so there is no way i would put her in a garage also on the 29th of september she will be 14.
