She is a 8 month old pit bull and weighs about 35 lbs. the dr could not find her bladder on the xray. and she hasnt peed for 8 hours. Her pelvis is broken in several places where it meets the socket on one side. She is very young so they said she would heal faster and it is going to cost $5000. Everyone is telling me to put her to sleep if her bladder is ruptured But that is not an option for me. I think she will heal fine because she ius so young. Has anyone else been through this please help!

  1. I am sorry your dog was injured so bad...I would not let a dog suffer the way she is now...

a ruptured bladder, broken bones in several places, sounds like she will be in pain the rest of her life....and its hard to  believe they could not find her bladder on the xray......

I called my vet for you, he said the dog in this condition would have immediately a candiate for surgery to repair the bladder damage, he could not believe your vet said, she is young and will heal by herself, this just does not sound right...

ruptured bladder per my vet said, means she is peeing out into her own system, which will cause a water build up and could cause a bloat and rupture of that..

I think you need a second opinion asap, you need to get to another vet....and no, the putting down of a dog is a very hard option to decide on, but if your poor baby is in a lot of pain and suffering and wont recover fully, it wont have the quality of life it should have.

Please see another vet, then decide, please dont just take the word of your vet please.

I will pray for your baby and lets hope god is on her side and she comes out of this all the way.

    good luck...please see another vet.....

and if she has not peed for 8 hrs, then as my vet said, she is leaking into her own body system and this also can be very dangerous.

and if your vet is not gonna do surgery, what is the cost of $5000.00 for...

  2. If her bladder is rupture she will have problems for the rest of her life - just be aware this is a long time committment.

  3. I am soooooooooo sorry this happened to you and your puppy

Honestly I agree with the others to put her to a peaceful rest. I had a Boxer that was hit by a car at 6 months and decided to have the surgery. She had a broken hip and leg and her entire life she struggled to walk, gain weight and be like a normal dog. If your puppy has internal injuries it will be very hard for her to get back to full health.

Even if the bladder is repaired fully, in my experience the dog will not have a fulfilled life. With my boxer the heaviest she weighed was around 20 lbs (Which is a very unhealthy weight) Despite all of our efforts to help her she was in constant pain and eventually we had to put her to sleep. It would have been better to do at the beginning instead of making her struggle three more years in pain

Trust me I LOVE dogs and don't usually beleive in putting them to sleep but sometimes it is for the better

  4. i haven't been through a ruptured bladder, but i have lost a pet abruptly. i hoped very much i could save her. it's a hard reality when no one can save your beloved pet.

thank you for owning and loving a pit bull despite the controversy and bad image they have.
