  1. it will work in a few days:stick to the schedule, its twice or three times a day?matronidazole works. But, you have to finish all of the meds:10 days or 12?

i worked at a kennel, dogs had Giardia many many times.

Its a stubborn thing, you do the first treatment, and wait a bit.In a month, if you see the runs and vomiting return, the dog needs a second treatment.Wash all the bedding of the dog,and bathe the dog too:Giardia also sticks to the dogs fur(its very small, can be seen with a microscope only).Wash your hands a lot:people can get it too.

  2. Usually meds start working by the second day but as in humans, animals are all different too.  I do know with this medication it's important to take the doses evenly spaced as close to the same time of day as possible so as to keep an even amount in the blood.  If you aren't seeing an improvement in several days you should contact the vet and maybe bring her in again.  Diarrhea and vomiting causes dehydration so stay on top of the situation and make note of her food intake and water consumption.  Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

  3. When my dog was on it a couple months ago as a result of some diarrhea resulting from a food allergy, it started to work almost instantly.  The vet said usually it takes less than a day to kick in, and that often the dog will go then several days with no bowel movement.  If she is still having diarrhea tomorrow, you might give the vet a call and let them know, and see if they maybe want to try something else.  Did they also have you fast her for 24 hours and then start her on a bland diet (like plain white rice and boiled chicken)?  If not, you might ask if that would be worth trying.  I'm not sure what the cause of your dog's diarrhea was diagnosed as, so the vet will be your best source of information.  I'm sure they'll be happy to tell you tomorrow if you should worry or not if you give them a call.

  4. It should be a couple of days before you start to see some improvement.

  5. What was the diagnosis - (the cause of the vomiting/diarrhea)? she had to be put on it for a reason....depends upon the reason she was put on it, and this really is a question that you should have asked your vet....does she have parasites?? did she test positive for parvo virus?? Not enough information here to even offer an opinion on this one.
