Question:

My dog was spayed and she is now swelling?

It has been four days since I had my dog spayed. She has swelling in the area of the incision and it is slightly red. She acts fine and shows no signs of pain, but I am a little worried. She is a two year old miniature pinscher.

My other dog was spayed at four months and had no swelling at all, so you may see why I'm worried. I have tried keeping my dog as still as possible, but being the type of dog that she is, she is hyperactive.

Should she see a vet? I there anything I can do for her right now?

  1. if she is swelling @ the incision then i would take her to the vet if it gets worse, but if she is like getting a "bubble" looking shape near the incision , she will be fine. just put a warm pack on it like 3x daily,  what it would be is because she is hyper, she ripped wall and fluid is getting in between the ab wall and skin i think.

  2. i wouldnt worry unless you see puss or sores etc around the incision.

  3. i think my cat swelled a little, but i don't know there are more professional people than me up here so i'll ask the same question...my cat is fine

  4. A little swelling and redness is normal. Just continue to keep her as still as possible ( I know its hard) and don't allow her to l**k the incision.
