I have a 1 yr old Chihuahua and a 1 yr old Italian Greyhound/Poodle Mix. They both shed a little bit but this last week they have been shedding much more!! Does anyone have an idea why they would be shedding more??

  1. Dogs usually shed more at the hottest part of the year. If its not hot where you are it could be skin issues. Take them to the vet to make sure they don't have any parasites or other skin conditions.

  2. I'm not sure, unless it's winter going on spring.  Then they are shedding their winter coat.  I would call and ask your local Vet.

  3. their shedding their summer coats.

  4. Dogs generally "blow" their coat twice a year.  Sounds like you may be hitting that time with your dog.

  5. Yes, the heat has something to do with it.  I asked my vet about it just a little while ago because my female has some health issues and she said it's because we're having an unusually hot summer here.  All you can do is brush them every day!
