  1. you still have a  few hours to go. Now clip the hair around her nipples, so the puppies can find them and clip the hair around her v***a(if necessary) Around 12 hours before birth, her temperature will drop below 100F(38C) and she will probably refuse to eat. When she enters the first stage of labor, she will pant, strain, appear restless and ahem may vomit. If you notice a puddle of fluid, this indicates hat her water bag has broken. Two hours after that her contractions will increase and her first puppy will be born. Make sure she has a placenta(after each puppy) If she doesn`t, it could cause infection. Wait till all the pups are born and then head to the vet. after the mom has licked the puppy clean, take over and gently lift the puppy and put it by a nipple. It will start to suckle. If she doesn`t tear the sack the puppies are in you have o take charge. Tear open the sack as the puppy could suffocate, clean any mucus away from the face, and rub it with a towel. Tie off the umbilical cord with a piece of non-waxed dental floss and cut i off 2inches from the puppy(5cm) Return the pup to the mom

Have you been taking her temperature?

I assume you've got a whelping box set up.

Is she at the right stage of pregnancy to whelp?

I'd just get everything ready, scales, notepad and pencil, scissors, forceps in case you need to clamp the umbilical cord and very importantly your vets number on hand (and the phone) in case something goes very wrong.

You'll also need to keep close watch on her as she is a first time mother (and last) and because she is only a puppy herself she could accidentally suffocate a puppy and she may not properly detach the umbilical cords so you will have to cut and clamp yourself. The puppies should be taken with the mother within 48 hours of birth to check that none have cleft pallets and things.

  3. If she is digging and scratching she is starting to nest. Which means she is getting a place ready to have the babies.

You need to give her newspaper and old cloths to shredd to in her whelping box.

Just keep an eye on her. She could have them quickly or takes several hours.

Call your vet and let them know, so they will be ready in case you have to rush her there.

Get you a towel and warm water ready so you can help clean them when she starts to deliver. She should do it on her own, but sometimes a dog needs a little help due to fatigue and labor pains.

Other than that just keep an eye on her and make sure she is not having any problem or trouble.

I would take her to the vet after she has them though so her and the pups can be looked over.

  4. Take her to the vet again. Has she had any pups yet? If so, take them to the vet with her. Is she digging like standing up? Or just digging her claws into stuff? She may just be experiencing labor pains.

  5. Who knows if she will be okay? She's very young to be having puppies and she's in labor. I hope you did your research. If you have any questions your breeding mentor can help you.

  6. She will probably start to nest, make her own special spot to whelp. She may get old pieces of cloth she will find somewhere you should lay out an old towel for her. I would make a whelping box too out of cardboard if she doesn't want to give birth there at least you can move the puppies and her there and they can be in a safe enclosed area. Good Luck! I have seen animals give birth before but since she is younger I would try and keep an eye on her to make sure she knows what she is doing, she may need your assistance. Keep everything nice, clean, and quiet for her. Make sure those puppies find great homes too unless you plan on keeping them. I wonder what kind of breed they will be ;-)

You can get her spayed once she is done nursing at around 8 weeks.

  7. I'm sure you ll get alot of lectures about breeding your dog here on yahoo answers. if shes panting and digging she should be giving birth soon. Just try to let her do everything on her own just watch to be sure a long length of time doesn't come before each pup being born. Dogs can give birth by themselves with usually no problem (this depends on her breed and size of her and the father etc., but I'm sure shell do fine) If you notice her having problems or your concerned about anything, call your vet, that's what they are for.

Good luck with the new additions!!!
