My dad gave my dogs left over mexican earlier while I was gone, and they're not really used to "people food." But my other dog is fine. She's never gotten this big before, what could be wrong? and how can we fix it.

  1. shes bloated, and depending on what she ate, and how fast she ate it, she could have a twisted gut. If this is the case shes going to be in alot of pain, acting strange, moaning, groaning, lethargic, and whiny. You need to get the dog to the vet right away if anything like this is happening. Twisted Gut does not fix itself, its fatal and the longer you wait to have it looked at the more likely the dog will not survive even after surgery. Keep an eye on her and get her to the vet if any thing above is a issue. It could be as simple as she has gas and it could be a twisted intestine, you never know and you dont want to find out the hard way.

  2. call a vet.. sounds like blockage or an alllergic reaction to the food.

  3. If her belly is enlarged get to a vet right now.  If could be GDV (gastric dilatation volvulus) or bloat which is life threatening.  Only your vet can fix this.

  4. a pic would be great so we can see the problem

  5. Could be fat or a "love handle" you didn't notice before, on up to an abscess, or a tumor.  If your dog seems fine otherwise, call for an appointment when your vet opens.  If your dog is acting sick weak or weird, it could be an emergency.

And stop feeding Mexicans to your dog!

  6. Yikes - call your vet!  Could be a lot of things, but unfortunately one possibility is bloat, and that is an emergency!
