My dorm has one window. Right in front of this window is a brick wall. Our room gets very little sunlight. What can I do so it doesn't always feel like 9:00pm, and to prevent myself from going insane?

  1. you need to buy a bunch of lights... this can be regular lamps, either floor lamps or table top lamps, or you can do string lights like previous answer said.

plug a power strip into the outlet that controls the lights. then plug in some of the lights to that and scatter them all over the room. if you need a lamp to extend to the other end of the room, but still be controlled by the switch, then attach an extension cord into the power strip and plug the lamp  into that. that way, when you flip the switch, all the lights will go on at the same time, and you won't have to walk around the room to turn each one on. you can always switch some off or unplug a few for 'mood lighting'.

with the christmas lights, I purchased a bunch on clearance after christmas and plugged a few end to end, then used mug hooks and push pins to pin the lights in a grid or zig zag pattern on the ceiling. You can also hammer nails in a horizontal line 4 to 6 inches apart at the top of the wall, and another line at the bottom by the base board in the same intervals and lace the string lights vertically up and down in parallel lines across the whole wall.

using bright colored sheets and curtains also helps brighten up a room.

    Good Luck.

  2. you can string your favorite color christmas lights all around the ceiling of the room. That way it'll brighten it up a little but it won't put out a lot of light. It'll just luminate a little. You can try having a bright colored bed set and curtains.

  3. the only thing i could think of is spending less time in your room. use the library to study and sleep in the dorm...problem solved! LOL

I think you should buy some standing lamps. It won't have to be installed in the wall like other lamps so you wont ruin the walls. But do you have the space for it?

  4. paint the  rest ofthe room a light and bright color
