My download speed is 129 KB/s though when i download,it runs at 16 KB/s only! why?

plz guyz help me, i want to reach at the real speed! according to SPEEDTEST.NET my system's downloading speed is 129 KB/S!!! when i download anything with Internet Download Manager, its top speed is 16KB/s only!!! :-( plz give me proper suggetion.

Well it depends on where you're downloading from, their upload speed, and how busy their servers are. Just because you have 129K download speed doesn't mean that you will get that with everything you download.

That has more to do with the server your downloading from.  Most connections never reach their potential download speed, so that's not unusual.  My only suggestion is to upgrade.

okay each internet company buys a certain amount of speed, lets say for yours its 10 mb. but that is to be used with EVERYONE that has the same interenet type as you within a certain proximity. so its probably going to be Alot slower than your maximum speed since tons of people use the interent each day

Speedtest will just give you a calculated Up/Down speed.

Up/down speed will depend on your provider.

What bandwidth did they hook you on.

and what is the Up/down speed of the site/peer your downloading.

the more traffic it has. The slower it is.

The less traffic it has the faster your dowload will be.

Your download speed is 129 kilobits per second. When you download a file it counts in kilobytes per second. it takes 8 kilobits to equal 1 kilobyte. Therefore when you say you have a download speed of 16 kilobytes, that translates to 16x8 which is 128kilobits, which is in this case is almost exactly right. Therefore your computer is acting completely normal, and you are using your full connection speed.

You may be 129 KB/s, but that pushes your internet to the max. If you download something it is most PROBABLY lower than the max.

129 kb is only a max figure it also depends on the sever your downloading from
