  1. I swim too and im 13... i don't think you will make but just because i swim for Hershey and i have a swimmer on my swim team (Katie Nolan) who made it to the Olympic trials this year and she goes like a 49.78 in her 100 free.. now you can train... you give your self a rele hard workout for 3 or 4 weeks and then you just take a real easy practice for a week and thats called tapering.. that always helps me go faster...

  2. you going to have to pick it up a bit.. ok a lot its going to be hard, but with determination you can do it without a doubt.

and they dont have 50s in a anything but the free when you get in high school and such so work on your 100s.

  3. no, that other guy is wrong. you can totally make it.

just keep going for the gold.

practice practice practice, go do swimming races and other things that can help you be better.

you have many years to practice, but youll have to start today :]

  4. if i were you i would switch to a year round team. like an intense one. otherwise your chances seem slim.

  5. sorry to say but...no. Im 13 too but my time in the 50 free is a 24...try finding a year round team to swim on thats what i am doing and it is alot harder but it makes you so much faster! GOOD LUCK :D

  6. my gals cousin is in the australian olympic team and shes up at 4am EVERY morning without fail and has been since she was very young. so your chances are slim the way you are going

  7. To be a top national swimmer, you have to swim and train the whole year round, just like in all other competitive sports.

Get advice from your parents or coach to see what ideal programme is suitable for you. With proper training you should quickly attain times of 30s and faster.  Wish you all the best!

  8. My brother is 12 and he swims the 50 free in 27 secs....

the 50 breast is 32 secs.....

    50 fly 31 secs

    100 fr 59 secs

and he couldn't even win state champs in AZ....

Join a year round swim program they help ALOT

thats how my brother droped like 5 secs in everything

  9. ouu i dont know your gunna have to work at it

    swim year round.

If your High School has a swim team join that.

i swam year round since i was about 8 years old [I'm 14]

my 50m free time is 29:16 and I'm still not happy.

  10. good luck

  11. if this is truly your dream, then you need to be taking it more serous and getting in that pool every day and working your butt off. swimming just in the summer isn't going to cut it.

  12. Try looking for a club team in your area. I can tell you right now that no one has made the Olympics in swimming by only swimming summer sessions. And be consistant with your work outs. Don't go for 1 day and skip 2 days. Go to every practice that is available, and try hard in practice. And in no time, you'll see yourself grow as a swimmer and as a person!

  13. you need more than that

you need to do that like

all year round and maybe upto

    2 times  a day

  14. Join a club team in your area that either has a reputation for sending people to high level events (i.e. nationals, world championships) or that has a good coach.

Next, tell your coach of your dreams. If he's a good coach he'll listen to you or at least be able to offer you other goals besides the Olympics.

You'll probably have to swim year round, practicing twice a day most days even on holidays like Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. You may even have to train on Sundays, Christmas, Easter, or other major holidays (depending on which you celebrate).

You will have to commit your life to swimming. You will also need to get your family to support you. If you're in the US, use USA Swimming's club locator to find a team near you. Keep in mind though, if your goal is the Olympics you may need to travel outside of your area to find an appropriate club. When I swam on my club team we had girls that came from 1.5 hours away to train with us.
