  1. Don't quit your day job dude. I hate to be the only cynical poster here, but I'm also the only realistic poster.

With 30 teams and about 15 players per team, that makes for about 450 players in the NBA. Now there's about 15 million high school students per year. Let's say every year the NBA gets new players. That means about 450/7.5 million boys=0.006% of students will get to the NBA (and this is definitely much more than it actually is, considering many players come from overseas and are in the NBA for more than one year).

That means you need to be better than 99.994% of kids your age. If you can't make your middle school team, which has perhaps the best 15 out of (estimating) 300 guys in your grade=5%, there's no way you'd make the NBA without impossible improvement.

Shoot for the stars and keep enjoying playing basketball! But remember you're going to be making your living with something else.

  2. perfect practice makes perfect

    just do it

    impossible is nothing

  3. hav pride pasiion heart work haard

  4. Keep shooting. Keep practicing.  Even if you don't make it in high school, get videos/dvds that tell you basics of basketball.  Train. Play basketball whenever and however often you're able to.  Players like Dennis Rodman and Steve Francis got picked up off the street...in other words playing street ball.

Practice, practice, practice. Train.  Play at a gym, ymca, etc. Surround yourself with people who love basketball. Watch the sport. Learn the sport. "Eat, drink, and sleep" basketball some might say. But always do it because its something you know you'll enjoy doing.

  5. The main thing is that you need to be tall.  Even the short dudes are usually above 62.  Unless you have mad skills, you ain't going pro anytime soon unless you are a giant.

  6. First of all make sure you have options other than turning pro. You will soon become a student athlete, and you are going to need to manage your time wisely. Dreaming is the key to reach your goals, but do not get caught up with it because then it will become a distraction. Make education your priority, and have fun playing ball. When I played College ball i had the same dream until I blew out my need. My dreams came crashing down, but I realized not only did I had skills in the court but I also had a brain.

    Good Luck!

  7. real talk you need to get off this computer.

you wasting time . You know what you have to do by now so get focused and start hoopin. Its everyones dream including mine and i hooped for about 5 hours today. You competing wit everybody other countries and everything. Im in the 10th grade.

  8. I have the same dream and I'm a junior in high school. But the odds of a person making the NBA are slim to none, unless you are that good. However if you practice consistently and have the same routine you can get better. It wont come fast and it takes time. Decide what you are best at, like post play, shooting jump shots, driving to the basket, whatever works best for you.

Like BEN said ^ there's 30 NBA teams with at most 15 players, then you have free agents. So that's about 450 players plus the free agents making it close to 600 players. These are some of the best athletes. Still follow your dream and remember there's always the D league which you can hone your skills and become better.

Just stay consistent and believe in yourself; you really have to or you're not going to have it as easy as you think it'll be.

I've started playing basketball 2 years ago, and I haven't  been on a single team. So just do what you want, it's your choice and you're responsible for giving it your all.

  9. Never give up. Believe in yourself.
