  1. coffee is a diuretic and 4 beers will make you wanna go too.

    :P

  2. I'm going to go out on a limb and say he is wrong.

  3. Equivalent in what way?   It doesn't contain alcohol.   How much coffee?  The way you phrase it, I don't understand what he means.

  4. He must have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.  Coffee is a stimulant and it acts to calm down an ADHD personality. That is why Ritalin calms ADHD personalities down to a moderate level. Ritalin is a powerful stimulant and it calms down the ADHD mind, but will make a normal brain go into hyper overdrive.

  5. true?  That it impairs your driving? Guess caffeine can affect us but I don't know that it affects your kidneys the same. I think that is a great question to ask your teacher.  With a comment like that and no obvious comparision (no alcohol, etc.), it seems like it may have just been a careless comment that begs for someone like you to follow up on.

  6. I don't think he is right either. There has been many times when I have needed something to keep me alert during a long drive and I am making that "last push" to make it home...and the last thing I look for is a liquor store for a beer!!  Generally, I look for a  Dunkin' Donuts for a tall order of coffee!

I can see driving with too much caffeine in my system being a problem...the caffeine would affect my responses--possibly overreacting to stimuli which would be as dangerous as impaired response from alcohol...but I think he may have been mixing apples and road signs because he definitely should have explained that analogy when caffeine and alcohol are two totally different drugs!
