  1. Sort of depends on what type of ink you're talking about.  Is this magic marker ink, permanent marker ink, ball point pen ink, fountain pen ink??    When ever I'm faced with a mark I want to remove from a hard surface, such as the inside of a dryer, I use either Acetone or Alcohol.  The alcohol on a cotton ball will be much less likely to cause you breathing problems, but neither of them should be a big problem as long as you don't linger inside the drum with the cleaning agent in there too.

  2. rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover on a cotton ball.

  3. Same thing happenend to me.  There was a pen left, unknowingly, in a pocket quite a few times.  We used plain rubbing alcohol the first time.  We've used goof off and also Krud Kutters, depending on what we have on hand in the house.  Good luck.!
