My dryer isn't heating up to dry my clothes?

I have a Kenmore Dryer, serial number mk1637406 type number dw jr-ele-2406028-fm54 and model number 110 606 12 990. It doesn't heat up to dry anything, does anyone know any simple test i may try to fix it myself

  1. Check your lint trap first.  If it's not cleaned after each load you're not using your dryer to it's fullest drying capacity.  Full lint traps do not allow the air to move through the dryer as intended and clothes will not dry properly.

    Buy your problem sounds more like the heating element is shot.  The last heating element I had to replace cost me about $50 and we were able to replace it ourselves by having the element mailed to us from Sears.

  2. You probably have a tripped electrical breaker.  Check your breaker box first and reset any tripped breakers.  If that doesn't work, you may have to replace the heating element.
