  1. i know nothing about ducks but i have to agree there most be something upsetting her could she be lonely

  2. She could be looking for a mate.....   putting out a "call" to attract a mate.......      and some breeds of ducks only lay eggs when they are mating.......      unlike chickens......    so you could have a female duck, but depending on her breed, she might not lay eggs without a mate......

  3. Look at the end of their body where their tail feathers are.

If it is a male,in the middle on top of those feathers there will be one or two curled feathers. This is even present in species of ducks where the duck is brightly colored.

My ducks quack for about 3 good reasons. . . they want food, they are disturbed by something, they are squabbling amongst themselves or there is a predator.

Sometimes you need to provide some Layer Crumbles to help promote laying. . . Crumbles helps with vitamins/minerals.   I feed my ducks the same thing I give my chickens. . . Scratch(mixed grains),Layer Crumbles and Oyster Shell(strengthens the shell).

Once my hens started laying they would often times lay double yolkers.

    Good Luck

  4. male ducks have tail feathers that curl up at the end and their quack sounds sort of asthmatic-like

i agree that your duck is probably either scared, lonely, or hungry
