I have 3 duck eggs in an R-com digital incubator right now. I have the E-Z scope which allows you to candle the egg wihout removing it from the incubator. The eggs are 21 days old. One egg had shown a blood ring and no development, so that one is dead. The second one has a air sack and sometimes you can see movement in the egg and the blood vessels are visable and the egg is basically all dark except for the air sack. The third egg however, had blood vessels and slight movement, but there is no air sack. Will the egg be able to hatch? Wil it live? What could have caused the egg not to have an air sack? Is there anything I could do? Please help!!

  1. Think about it this way. How long can you hold your breath, and not breathe? Not that long i assume. It may hatch it may not, but the odds are deffo stacked against it :(

  2. I have seen this befor, but the airsac was there. It was not visible to me. It hatched though. SOme airsacs can be on th bottom end or top end. I have seen them in the middle of the egg.

It may be able to hatch if you increase the Humidity by adding water to the incubator, extra which will help them out, it softens shell a bit.

It could live. It could die. Things happen. It could live and be healthy, it all depends on it. It could be sick, have deformaties, or die befor hatch. It would be your fault if you have water, the temp is between 98-100 degrees, and you turn them at least 3 times a day.

It may be a thin airsac. Usually there darker, I have had a couple had airsacs thet I couldnt see because it was soo thin and blended in with everything.

Just be patient. ANd stop turning them 3 days befor hatch. So on day 25 you will stop tuning them. Unless there muscovies or mallards. Muscovies take 35-37 days so day 33 stop tuning and mallards are 24-28 days so stop turning day 23
