  1. Some DVD players (particularly those that can play SACD and DVD-A disks) have 6 RCA outputs for discrete analog audio.

You don't need this to get surround.

Use the optical (A little square port) or digital coaxial connector (orange RCA port) on the DVD player to connect to an A/V receiver. You need an optical cable for the former and an RCA to RCA coaxial cable for the latter (although any RCA cable will work temporarily)

Most TVs won't process surround sound, but if your's does you can connect optical or coax to it. but you are better using a surround sound receiver/speakers if you have them.

Finally, if you don't have optical or digital coax ports on the DVD or A/V receiver, you can still use stereo (red/white RCA) and get matrix surround (e.g. Prologic setting on the receiver/amp).

Note this is for sound .. you also need to connect video (yellow RCA is lowest quality, S-video is better, and if you have HDTV use component (red/green/blue triple RCA cables) or HDMI) from DVD to TV.

    Hope this answers the question.

  2. If I understand it right I think all these connections are possibly a Component set up.(green , blue , red ).

If not and they are all yellow , white , red - look close and see if they are all inputs or some are out puts.

Your H.T.S. may have more than 1 input.

If all else fails you can try

This is a cheat method that should work

    1.  Run the yellow, red and white cables into the TV AV input.

    2.  From TV AV output you need to run a red cable and a white cable into your Home Theatre System.

You may need to try a few different inputs on the H.T.S ,but eventually you will find the right one.

Hopefully your TV and H.T.S. have the output and input to do this.
