My ear feels congested, like something is in there. What does this mean?

You know, like when water is trapped in the middle ear, and it feels congested. The only problem is, I'm not sure if it is water or not, and I don't know if it could be hearing/ear drum damage... It feels like something is about to fall out of the ear, in a way. Does water cause this congestion, or is it what ear drum damage feels like? Thanks so much!

You could have wax in your ear ,they may need syringing.
