  1. not alot. The lower  your efc number the more you get - from pell grants anyway which is free government money, you will get unsubsidized and subsidized loans though, which you'll have to pay back. good luck.


  2. Laughed at by your family when you tell them they are expected to contribute 15331... or at least that was my experience..

  3. Unsubsidized Federal Stafford loans.  That's about it unless you applied for a scholarship somewhere and won.

  4. It depends on the college.

    At a typical state U, unless you have very top grades and are offered a merit scholarship, you'll probably get nothing but the offer of an unsubsidized loan.

    At top private colleges that meet 100% of need, you would get everything above that to meet cost of attendance in the form of grants, loans and work study. At a few schools like Harvard, Princeton and Dartmouth there are no loans to pay back but at most you would have loans.

    Most private schools give aid in your situation to students they want most, those at the top of their applicant pool. Apply accordingly.
