My efc score is 2737.. can anyone tell me axactly what this means?

  1. It's a number that the Dept of Education feels you can contribute to your education based off of your (and your parents if applicable) income information.

    Have a 2737 you will be eligible for a Pell Grant. I am not sure exactly how much, but it should be at least $1300 for the year. The highest EFC you can have for a Pell Grant is 4113 so you're under that. Also, some states (like Ohio) have state grants that are based off of your EFC as well. If your state has such a program, you EFC should be low enough to get a grant there as well.

  2. EFC is your expected family contribution.  It means that the government feels your family can contribute $2737 toward your education.

    It also means that you should qualify for grants (money that typically doesn't have to be repaid).
