My electric dryer will try to start but not get going?

When i push the start button it will act like its going to start but shut off when i let go. If i hold the button on it stays going. What is broken and is this costly?

try this hold the start button for at least 30sec then open the door a check to see if it was heating. if yes it has a bad motor relay if no heat its a bad control board.

You need a new start switch for your dryer.  Before replacing make sure you unplug your dryer.  Removing 8 Phillip screws on back will give you access to it.  I will cost about 10.00 for a new one.  See link below
