Question:

My electric shower makes a buzzing sound sometimes....?

Should i get someone out to have a look at it? It's working fine, but just makes a buzzing sound that comes and goes. Thanks.

  1. It's the pump in the shower and they make noise  and this will increase over the life of the shower when the pump goes completely it will make the shower inoperable.The only real solution is replacement.

  3. Within most shower units, when you switch them on there is a relay that energises to put power to the heating element. The buzzing you can hear is due to one of two reasons. It could be the relay laminations that are vibrating, which although annoying, are not an immediate danger. Or if the shower has in its lifetime, had a lot of use (i.e. It's Old), it could be the relay contacts that are "pitted" which again would not create a problem to you ( they would eventually fail to operate and you would then need a new shower). Either way, showers are made to be safe to the user should anything go wrong with them, as long as they were installed correctly.



  4. Could be a loose connection.  Probably worth a check, although if it is installed correctly, then you'll get a cold shower before you get any electrical shock.

  5. Your gonna get shocked! get it checked.
