Hey when you guys are cooking on your stoves or using the oven or boiling some stuff...do you sometimes hear this popping noise? It's not constant...it's just one pop. I hear it and I was wondering if that's an indication that something is wrong. My stove top is not old at all...it's a one year old electric stove. If anyone has any idea or experience please share them. I need help on this! Thank you in advance!

  1. I'm assuming you're got an electric cooktop.  It's perfectly normal to hear random popping when boiling something.  What you're hearing is the expansion of the electric burner.  Remember you're old physics class?  Heat causes items to expand, while cold causes them to contract.  It's perfectly fine.

  2. when metal heats.. it changes shape a little.. the popping is probably just the sides of the oven getting hot and bowing a little.  don't worry.  had this in my ovens for ... since time began... never had a fire unless something overflowed onto the heating element..
