  1. How do you know that they are taking too much?

    Go to:

    www.paycheckcity.com

Enter your payroll info and double check.

  2. I don't think the employer is the one taking taxes out of you.  Its actually the State where you live at w/c takes the taxes off and the IRS..

    Good luck!

  3. How do you know it is too much? Maybe you need to submit a new W4.

  4. Talk to the HR department.   Do not worry, you will get it all back when you claim your income tax at the end of the year.

They (hr) may not have counted your dependents correctly, but they will explain how the tax is calculated.

  5. What specific tax do you think they are taking too much out for?

Your income tax deductions depend on how you filled out your W-4 form.  Then it's a calculation based on how much you make.

Social security and medicare total a flat 7.65 percent.

State and local taxes depend on where you live.

If you'll post again with more details, maybe somebody can help you.  You don't give enough info for anyone to help otherwise, including even directing you who to talk to since there's no way to know WHICH tax is out of line, if any are.
