  1. This question doesn't make sense "45" what? ".55" what? More details are needed. Please clarify.


  2. They do that to make a profit off the time YOU drive. They have to pay you .45, so they charge .55, making .10 cents for their/your services. It's just like any product markup. You can then use this to your advantage. Say your car gets 26miles per gallon, then you can potentially make .30/mile you drive. at 4 bucks a gallon. That's 3 bucks profit for every 10 miles you drive...start road trippin.

The government is cracking down on "add-ons" so you are right to be worried.  The title insurance companies were charging $45 for a fax that cost them $15.  That was disallowed.  Mortgage companies were charging $35 for a credit report that cost them $16.   YOu are only supposed to charge for services that you actually provide; not a windfall on someone else's service. /
