It's possible.  If you are apart of a union, then you should seek advise from your union representative regarding their reasoning.

Sure they can,but if they can't & you don't they can still fire you...

College transcripts are always relevant, so your employer can ask for them at any time.  Cough it up!

Yes, they can, if your job required a college degree (or does now).  Your college (assuming you attended one) will still have your transcript on file.

With all the high profile people who have been caught lying about college degrees (the head of admissions at MIT recently after 20 plus years there!) many employers are now checking everyone.
