Honda 96 accord, comes with 2 fans one on the engine and the other on the other side. The fan on the engine does not turn on at all, whether the car is on or not, but the other fan does turn on. I checked fuses they seem fine, I checked it with a battery nothing is wrong with the fan itself and its a brand new fan that I bought. Does anyone know what is going on with my car? this causes my car to overheat. Any good mechanics that know whats going on? what else could it be? thanks

  1. david is right to an extent. that second fan is controlled electronically  but you have a relay to locate and check along with the fuse for that system. do both fans come on with the ac running? my guess is that since you replaced the fan and you did check the fuse, then the relay should be the problem. i have, however, seen a fuse box that had a bad connection to it eliminating the power to that circuit. that was a fun one to find, luckily that was my car that i could take care of on my own time.

  2. The one (Fan) forward of the Radiator is the A/C fan to cool the Condenser, Engine side is the Radiator fan. A/C Fan is on all the time when the A/C is on, Radiator Fan Cycles with the Temperature of the Engine. Now to the Problem.

Several things will cause the Fan Not to Turn, 1; Motor Burnt Out (Run a Jumper wire from the Battery or Power from the Fuse Box, Touch the Motor Contacts, Does it Turn? Yes, Good Motor), Coolant Level Low (Thermostat opens but coolant level is too low to contact Temp. Sensor to activate Fan Relay), Thermostat is sticking Closed, Fan Fuse and/or Relay is Bad, Plug at Fan Motor is Bad, Etc. "If More help is needed find a "Good Radiator Shop!"

  3. check the wiring or check to c if there is anything stuck in it

  4. The fan is thermostatically controlled. There's a problem somewhere in the thermostat circuit.

  5. Those cars are bad about the cooling fan relay going bad. However, the fan ensures the car doesn't run hot when its at idle. When you're driving you don't  need the fan. If the car runs hot while you're driving, you don't have a fan problem. Check the relay 1st. If the fan wont turn on automatically and you have checked it manually, replace the relay. All this is based on assuming the fan has been properly installed and wired correctly.
