Question:

My engine makes a gurgly sound when i accelerate. What could this be?

I don't know how, quite, to describe it. it only lasts about 2 seconds when i accelerate, then the engine instantly goes back to sounding normal.

i'm thinking it might be a low gear problem...i don't know anything about cars though.

it liks like a lower toned gurgly mechanical sound...it doesn't sound like clicking or clanking or snapping or whistling...

but it also doesn't seem to affect the performance of the car. the noise is not accompanied by slow acceleration or delayed shift or anything, yet.

  1. Could be "pinging" which means your car needs a tune-up or you are using regular gas when you should be using premium. Pinging, which is a premature detonation of fuel in the engine, can damage the engine if it continues.
