My espresso machine steam wand keeps turning on and off?

Question

When i steam milk, the steamer light will light on and off about 4 times during the process - its very irritating and always ruins the texture of the milk.

What causes this, what fixes this?

first, i am not familiar with your machine

second, has it always done this, or has it only started doing it?

third, i expect this is simply the element turning on & off as the press/temp drops to a certain level & then rises to the cut-off level

fourth, the best place to get the right answers on issues like this is directly from the instruction manual, or if that is no help the manufacturer

finally, if we assume the machine isnt malfunctioning, it might well be your technique as someone else has suggested already

one suggestion is to cup your hand around the base of the stainless jug.  this way you can easily feel the temp of the milk.  you should never allow it to become hot to the point where it is uncomfortable to hold.  foaming the milk correctly is a real art & takes quite a bit of practice.  skim milk is also easier to foam than whole milk

does you coffee wand have an internal thermometer.... when i make cappuccino if the milk gets too hot the wand cuts of you are saying the texture is messed up on the milk so I'm guessing you are making it too hot and it curdling

Breville ikon is only the brand name. I doubt that anyone could be of much assistance to you with out knowing the model number.

I would suggest that you contact the manufacturer and seek a solution from them.
