  1. you can start with researching the last names of your mother (maiden name) and father and grandparents. That should give you a great start.

  2. You just carried some recessive genes that skipped a few generations and showed up within u

It doesn't mean you've got some exotic ancestry in your blood lines, Genetic variation means people who share similiar phenotypes (appearance) will randomly have offspring with different phenotypes, it's natures way of ensuring genetic diversity which is healthy

  3. why should u carew u can lie about being white. no offense white people im half white

  4. ask your parents.

  5. You can go on the Maury Povich show with your parents and get a DNA test done.

  6. im not trying to offend you. but your mother probably had an affair with another man. and that man is your real father. not your white father.

  7. haha ask ur mom you probely came from the mail guy

  8. look up your family history from far back as yu can go

  9. you ask your parents DUH

  10. Your family should know some things.  However, no one can guess your ethnicities by your appearance.    That is stereotyping. In Genealogy we don't do that.

You can trace your ancestry starting with yourself and working back one generation at a time.  Anytime you wish to do this, there are lots of good people on this board that can give you some great tips and advice.  Just ask.

Now some will suggest  DNA tests but until the testing companies find a more accurate way of testing for Autosomal DNA , it realy won't give you all your ancestry.   Still what you will get is something like Northern European etc, nothing specific.

Y DNA is passed from father to son only.

Mitochondrial DNA is passed from mother to both sons and daughters but only the daughters pass it on to their children.

Most of your DNA is Autosomal which you get 50-50 from both parents coming down from all your ancestors.  It is the only DNA that relates a female to her father or anyone to the various lines that have married into their direct Y or Mitchondrial lines

If you get back to your 6xgreat grandparents, barring any duplicates, you are directly descended from 510 individuals.  It pyramids as you go back.  Of Those 510 individuals you get your Autosomal DNA from all 510.  However, you get your Y DNA from only 8 and your Mitochondrial DNA from only 8.   494 people will be left out.

Autosomal DNA is what determines your apearance, your pigmentation, your height, your bone structure etc.

I might add I was born with red hair, blue eyes and a skin cancer type complexion.  My two sisters were born with black hair which turn tow headed as they reached about a year old.  They tanned very well.  One is brown eyed and the other had hazel eyes.   I topped off at 5'6-1/4".My older sister was 5'3 and my younger even shorter.  However, my younger sister and I have the same facial shape.  We get our nose from our paternal grandmother.  Your parents carry recessive genes.  Things that might not show up in their appearance will frequently show up in their children.

  11. Ancestry.com is supposedly a very good resource. Sounds to me as though you may have some Irish ancestry. My family is Irish and most of us are very pale with light eyes, but we have some who are very dark skinned. They call it black Irish.
