My eustation tube in my ear keeps blocking and I can't hear. Would hopi ear candles help?

The problem is driving me crazy. I had a bad cold, then went abroad (the air pressure in the aeroplane didn't help). My cold disappeared whilst I was away but I've had this problem of blocking and unblocking of my left ear since. I've also been feeling a bit unsteady on my feet every so often which I also think is a symptom and occasional pain. Trying to pop my ears or pinching my nose and blowing doesn't right the problem, it seems to stay blocked and go back to normal when it wants. I went to my doctor and he said don't pop your ears because that makes the problem worse, don't poke around in your ears because its not wax, its congestion stuck in the eustation tube. He said inhalation of crystals for a month should do the trick. 2 months have now passed, but I still have the same problem. Does anyone think hopi ear candles will help. Also, can I ever get rid of the problem or is it recurring?

  1. The problem you have is thick mucus in your Eustachian tubes. these tubes are, as you know, not very accessible. I think the doctors advice was not very helpful because there is no way any vapour can go up your Eustachian tubes. The hopi candle idea is good for hopi candle sellers but will not have any effect on your problem. i think you have two options, go back to your doctor and tell him that the inhalations didn't work or be patient and it will resolve itself, although it might take a week or three to do so. If you have not had this problem before I think it is likely to clear without recurrence.

I agree it's really irritating and you seem to be suffering more than most.

  2. I know I'm going to get thumbed down by all the fans of hopi candles.

Before I start, I'll just state that I am a qualified massage therapist, reflexology, aromatherapist and Reiki practitioner.

I don't like hopi candles. Nor do I ilke the fact that they can be purchased and used by people who have not been trained to use them.

Once you have used a hopi candle once, you will need to use them aagain and again and again, and more frequently too, as they encourage the ear passages to fill up much more quickly.

I would suggest that you need to go back to your doctor and insist on referal to an ENT specialist.

Reflexology would provide an alleviation of symptoms, but certainly not a cure.

  3. They will definatley help.  I am trained in doing them and have had great results from people who have this problem.

  4. Just really another endorsement for ear candles: I've used them for years, as have my family. Plus I used to work in a Clinic where we regularly used them. Definitely try them, they only cost about a fiver and I bet you'll be amazed at what comes out. I don't sell the candles, so I don't have any ulterior motive, I just know from experience how great they are. I've seen up to 2 inches of wax come out of some people's ears, so although you don't have this problem they're bound to help with clearing the ear (I also use them when I have a cold and once after a tooth infection to clear some horrid stuff that accumulated in my ear!).

As a beginner, choose the Biosun Hopi Candles as they have a filter and are very easy to use. You can do this on your own, just make sure you have a mirror to check the position of the candle and a glass of water to extinguish any hot embers x

  5. hopi ear candles are fantastic, they create a soft suction that is flowing, they not only clear your ears but you sinuses as well, they take a couple of days and then the congestion starts to flow out,

    i suggest kleenex balsam (really!!)

make sure u have someone help u do it though

    xx

  6. sorry, but hopi ear candles are a complete con. they cannot clear your sinuses or anything like that, the ear is sealed by your eardrum, doh!

the "dirty toxin" residue they claim to have removed from your ear is basically just what's left from burning the candle. same kind of thing as the "toxin-removing" foot pads, load of rubbish.
