My ever green trees have bagwormshow do I get rid of them?this is a commen bug on these trees

  1. Go to your local Farm & Home store or Garden Supply Center and ask them what is reccommended.  Some may tell you to knock the web down.  Don't do that it only helps to spread them to your other trees.


  2. Bagworms can be tough to control, especially after they go into their notorious cocoon which hangs from the limbs of evergreen trees like you describe.  

    Look for an insecticide which contains Spinosad as an active ingredient.  Other insecticides like imidacloprid (Merit) also work against bagworms.  

    If spraying isn't your thing, you can pick them off and drop the cocoons into hot soapy water to kill the larvae inside.  

    Next year you can treat your trees with spinosad earlier (mid-May in the Chicago area) to eliminate the larvae when they are feeding.
