  1. The creditors and the IRS do not care that the judge ruled that it's not your debt.  They want to get paid and will continue to ask you to pay until the bill is paid in full.

Even if paid in full, the entries will stay on your credit history--remember this is history.

  2. You can't, the only thing divorce decrees are good for is dragging your ex back into court if they violate them your creditors are not legally bound by your divorce decree and will come after you if your ex misses any payments.

  3. You can't.  Divorce decrees mean absolutely nothing to creditors.  So if you are still listed on the accounts and your Ex stops paying on them your credit will be damaged unless you make the payments.  The place the decree helps you do have to make the payments you can take him to Civil court for the amount you had to pay.

The only way to make you no longer responsible is to have the debts transferred to his name only.  Depending on the debt this may or may not be possible if they have a balance.  With loans(such as Car or Home) your Ex would have to refinance them to get you off of the loan.  With Joint credit cards you can see if they will just remove you.  If not work on getting those closed, the money will still be owed and needs to be paid but if they are closed at least your Ex could not charge any additional amounts.

  4. I don't think you can get the credit remove from your report. Your not responsible to pay it, but it was your debt. I would contact all of the credit card companies and tell them your situation and they may remove it. But I'm not an expert, email or call the Dave Ramsey show and he'll know what to do.
