  1. You don't provide enough info.  Why do you think he "owes you" if you are no longer employed?

  2. If he still owes you wages from when you were working for him, then you can contact the department of labor for that state.

If you are thinking he owes you severance, he has no requirement to provife any severance package.

You say you are retired - did the company have a retirement plan?  If so you should have some written documentation of it.  If not, he's right he doesn't owe you anything.

  3. Did you sign up for their retirement plan?  If you didn't then he is absolutely correct.  There is no automatic retirement plan codified in US law, aside from Social Security and military retirement.  Virtually all other retirement plans are voluntary and if you didn't participate, there's nothing to collect.

  4. Did you have a contract? Did you have a pension plan?   Without a pension plan there is nothing to collect.

  5. What do you mean owes you nothing? Did you have a pension plan or 401k? Companies are not obligated to give you anything unless it is something that you paid for or contributed to. If you just think you deserve something for working for 20 years you might but the employer is not obligated to give you anything.

  6. there is no legal prize you get for being with the same employer for 20 years.

hopefully you saved enough on your own to retire in comfort...if not, move to Costa Rica where life is cheap and the beaches are beautiful.
