My ex girlfriend put a scratch down the side of my car with her keys, how can i remove the scratch?

it's not very deep but its definitely taken off the paint, and it's about a meter long, are there any products that will sort it properly, or will i need to get it sorted at a garage?

thers a product that jml do that gets rid of scratches.i cant remember what it is called tho!sorry.ask around.thers no need to take it to a garage.as for ur ex get sum1 to knock the ***** out for god sake!!!

Ok here's what you do.... call the cops, have her arrested for vandalism (the little trollup), then ask the judge to make her pay for the repairs as restitution.  After that all you need to do is drop it off at the body shop and she pays. Viola ! Done!

T-Cut can usually get rid of small scratches , and I think turtle wax do something similar

Hi if its not too deep then it shoud T cut out, its not too expensive about £3, If that doest work but I think it will you might need to get it out from a professional  and if could cost a bit.

Assuming the car is new and/or the paint is not faded too bad, its pretty simple.  Go to a store like Wal-mart or AutoZone and buy the correct color touch up paint.  Get the one that comes in a little bottle with a nail polish size brush in one end, and a Ball Point pen applicator on the other.  In the same isle you should find automotive wet/dry sandpaper.  Get the one that is 2000 grit or finer.  With the ball point pen applicator trace down the scratch squeezing the paint into the scratch. As it dries the paint shrinks up a little bit, so repeat the process on all parts of the scratch until the line is completely filled.  It should be slightly raised from the rest of the surface when completely dry.  After a minimum of 24 hours (a few days is better) carefully sand the scratch with the 2000 grit paper saturated in water.  Use the eraser end of a pencil wrapped with the sandpaper, or your fingertip, so as to not sand too much of the surrounding area.  Press lightly and use plenty of water. Sand until the paint filled scratch is smooth.  Wax and buff area to a polished finish. Cost:  $10-$15.

If the scratch is not to deep you could use paint rubbing compound to try to remove the scratch.

I've had some good results with a touch up paint - the ones with a little brush. Or just buy a spray can & spray onto a plastic surface & apply the paint very sparingly into the scratch after cleaning the area well with T- Cut.

If necessary, repeat to give a finish level with the surrounding paint.

Leave it to dry for at least a couple of days, then use the T- Cut & a LOT of elbow grease to polish the new paint smooth - don't use wet & dry or sandpaper.

Finish off with a good quality wax polish.

Spend a bit of time doing this & you can get really good, very cheap results.

You said the scratch is not very deep.  So I am assuming that it is only through the clear coat.  If this is the case take it to a shop that reconditions cars.  They should be able to buff the scratch out easily.
