Will I get money from his stimulus check? About how long does the process take if it does come to me? I'm in Michigan

  1. Yes you will. The IRS will divert his stimulus check to you, if the child support agency is involved in your case.


  2. You could if the child support agency has placed an offset against his tax return, he filed 2007 taxes, he was eligible for a stimulus check, and he doesn't owe back taxes or student loans.  If all the factors are yes, then it could take approximately 6 months to receive the funds.

  3. You should, if he is getting a stimulus check that is.  Getting money from a stimulus check takes just as long as getting money from a tax refund.  The child support office has to tell the IRS that he is in arrears.  His social will be flagged in the system.  Then the IRS holds the money for a mandatory 3 months just to make sure there is no injured spouse or other legal claim filed.  Then the IRS sends it to the child support office.  Then the child support office is allowed to hold it for another 120 days just in case.  Then they send it on to you like any other normal payment.  It's a long process with lots of red tape.  But if he is entitled to get a stimulus check, then you will get it eventually.
