just to give a bit of back groud information,my ex parner and i had a joint morgage,i didnt contribute to the morgage in any way he was the sole bread winner and therefore paid all the morgage, but i wanted my name on the morgage also for srcurity purpuses,we was not married, any way i left him 6 months ago due to him being very abusive towards me.,i left and am currently renting a house at present.my parner has said that he is declaring him self bankrupt, does this mean that the house we shared will be repossed? as i cannot afford to take over the payments,my ex says that once one of us declares bankrupcy that they will not come chacing me for the rest of the morgage repayments,he said they will draw a line under it and the house will more than likly be reposssed, and i will be left with bad credit, the bad credit and reposstion i can deal with, but i cant deal nor afford to take over the whole morgage repayments,i just ideally want to sign my name off the morgage-

  1. You should immediately consult a lawyer specialising in bankrupcies so that your interests in the property can be protected.

  2. maybe thier half not your half if you have kept your payment on time, they might offer refinancing through your credit. and they may have to sell you thier half.
