I'm pregnant and my ex wants to sign his rights over, how do we go about doing this? Can we do it before the baby is born? We live in Ohio.

  1. O.M.G. ! What a Jerk !

  2. you have to wait until the baby is born. you can do this through a lawyer. he draws up the papers and the father signs it and it gets noterized. that is  about it.

  3. call your local court house..

  4. Don't let him be a dead beat dad.  Sounds like he just doesn't want any responsibility.  Make him pay child support.  I am assuming he's the daddy.

  5. he must wait until the baby is born however if you do not list him on the birth certificate then there is no rights to sign away.

  6. I think you can do it before the baby is born, but not positive. Go down to your courthouse & see if you can get the paperwork started at least.

  7. go to the children services office but chances are you need to wait and do a DNA test before he will be allowed to sign over his rights

  8. You basically go to court, and fill out a form showing that he wants to surrender his rights and you are in agreement.  Though you need to keep in mind most judges will not grant this unless there is a "father figure" in the child's life or willing to be in the child's life.  He can't simply say I don't want to be a dad and walk out.  Judges will not allow that.

  9. get a lawyer like yesterday
