My daughter is now 18 years old and there is a matter of an account that is supposed to be signed over to her which my ex isn't willing to do because of advice she is taking from her in-laws. What can my daughter do to get this account and the money in it signed over to her? We can't afford lawyers and my daughter is now a new mother and needs this money.

  1. if there is a legal binding document stating when she is allowed access to the account then the bank should accept this

if it was just agreed verbally then theres not really alot you can do i don't think

  2. Contact the office that set up the original agreement & have your daughter ask about Legal Aid - you should be able to get that information from the local court house or in the telephone book.

  3. Sounds like civil suit, hopefully you have documentation, if not then you will need to get the ex to admit to some type of contract, by email, text etc

  4. Have your daughter explain the meaning of embezzlement and fraud and the legal ramifications to her mother. She is the age of majority now and deserves all the money due her.

  5. This is between your ex & your daughter.  Stay out of it.
