My exciting day!?

I am going to horse camp in 2 weeks, and i am bringing my horse, Broker. He will stay the night there for a week. what do i bring for him and me?

is there anything else i should have in my grooming box? i have a curry comb,mane and tail brush, soft brush, and hoof pick.

any other tips for us haveing extra fun, having him not get bored, etc. would help

  1. bring lots of fly spray and fly sheets and if he's a light color don't forget horse sunscreen and bring treets for him too  for yourself make sure to bring all your riding stuff and sunscreen and bug spray too


  2. Here's a list of horse things to bring to a pony club camp.  Pony club tends to ask for more things than necessary, so you might be able to leave some of them off:

    For the barn/horse:

    -Saddle and Saddle rack (recommend borrowing club racks)

    -Bridle and Bridle rack (recommend borrowing club racks)

    -Halters x2 (leather break away!)

    -Lead rope x2 (cotton!)

    -Saddle Pad x2 (at least!)

    -Helmet

    -Riding gloves

    -Riding crop, spurs

    -Tack cleaning equipment in a bucket

    -Lunge equipment (cotton lunge line (NO CHAINS!), lunge whip,

    protective boots, bell boots))

    -Fan and outdoor heavy extension cord for stall

    -Pitch fork, muck bucket, stable broom, and rake

    -Feed bucket with snaps and s***w eyes

    -Water bucket x2 with snaps and s***w eyes

    -Salt block/electrolytes

    -Wash bucket, body sponge, scraper, equine shampoo

    -Grooming kit (all items labeled)

    -Feed Measured into individual servings in paper bags taped shut. (Mark the

    paper bag with pony name, rider name, contents of bag measured in pounds,

    date and AM or PM feeding, etc.) Place in a secure container, like a trash can

    with the lid chained down.

    -Any feed supplements needed for pony

    -Any medications needed for pony (please send dosage info too!)

    -Hay for 4 days and cotton hay net

    -Feed Chart

    -Fly Spray

    -Tack Trunk for storing items

    -Folding chair for tack rooms

    -Shipping wraps

    -s***w eyes, double ended snaps, and bailing twine for hanging buckets and other barn things

    Camper & Chaperone Personal Items:

    -Any Medications Needed

    -Bath soap, shampoo etc.

    -Sunscreen

    -Watch

    -Appropriate riding clothes

    -Riding vest for jumping if you have one

    -Riding boots

    -Barn (muck) boots

    -Barn Clothes (no short shorts and tennis shoes)

    -Swim Suit

    -Sandals

    -Sunhat (ball cap etc.)

    -Shorts and Tee-Shirts for after barn activities

    -Sneakers and/or sandals

    -Folding chair

    Additional items: games, CD players-MP3’s-iPod’s, deck of cards, flash light,

    camera, books, snacks and drinks for after hours, and money for ice cream and

    snacks.

  3. Bring EVERYTHING you use in his daily routine.

  4. bring anything and everything... also call/see what the camp will provide for you & see what you need to bring :-D

  5. Make sure you have any tack you need, as well as his supplements (if he takes any). If the camp you're going to doesn't have a vet on call, bring an emergency kit for him. Don't forget light blankets and fly spray!
