My eye has been red for awhile, is it pink eye?

My eyes have been red for a week now. It is not red all over, just around the pupil, and more prominent on my left eye than my right eye. I wear contacts half the week and glasses the other half. I've used visine and clear eyes and it doesn't seem to help the redness go away. I heard pink eye is contagious, but my girlfriend is showing no signs. And no I don't get high. Helpppp!!!

It's probably allergies.  Pinkeye is a bacterial infection and you would have more than just some redness around the pupil.  It causes a thick greenish-yellow discharge and is very painful and uncomfortable - especially when your eyelashes get glued together by the gunk.  

Look around your house and surroundings to see if there are any obvious allergens - dust, pet dander, plants, chemicals, etc.  Change the filter in your air conditioner or cooler.  Wash your sheets in super hot water and consider purchasing a new mattress and pillows if you've had them for more than 10 years - they are breeding grounds for mites.  In fact, there is a statistic that says the weight of your mattress can double over 10 years from the weight of dead mites.

it might not be.the same things happening to me. you're eyes are getting tired from having the contacts in them.go to your eye doctor and they'll give you eye drops thats half antibiotic (just in case it is pink eye.) and half stuff that will make the redness go away.

Then they'll tell you to come back in 3 days and check you again to see if its gone.

I had pink eye before. Usually it get crusty when you wake up in the morning all around and you find yourself always rubbing it. You should definantly go to the doctors and get it checked out

You would know, because your eye would get crusty. Its not pink eye.
