  1. Hi, I’m an A321 pilot for British Airways. When I first wanted to apply, I had the same question! You should first get your eyes checked by a doctor; it could be a infection or something like that. You can wear glasses when flying. I wear UV resistant sunglasses to protect my eyes from the light bouncing off clouds, when flying towards the sun, or when pesky forgetful pilots forget to turn their taxi or landing light! But I don’t need glasses usually when flying. Once I saw a Lufthansa pilot at Heathrow having glasses like the bottom of a coke bottle! Pilots can wear glasses. It just needs to correct the eyesight so that it would pass your class I medical examination. Sitting too long in front of a screen would not make a difference or make your eyes hurt. Anyway, there are screens in glass cockpits (cockpits with lots of screens), and you use them all the time. I would say that you need to get them checked out, eyes don’t usually hurt. But you just need to pass the Class 1 medical exam.

  2. As long as your vision is "CORRECTABLE" to 20/20 with glasses or contacts you can fly all you want...................If your eyes are in pain when you are flying you may have bigger problems.

  3. You have to take care of your eyes till the age of 18 or 21, after that there will be no problem till the age of 40 even if you use the computer for the whole day .... secondly there is no problem in becoming a pilot even if you have spectacles ... but you have to be medically very fit ... which is easily possible when your young ... so get your class I done when you are about 18 years of age .... after that you can become pilot whenever you want ... for your information the number of pilots training right now exceeds the number of pilots required for the next 20 years in a very large ratio ... for eg .. if in next 20 years if 10 pilots are needed ... then currently there are around 100 pilots who are under training and your goal is for next 7 year ... so friend think again and make your career choices wisely ....

  4. You need to seek professional advice on that one, nobody here can tell you anything, you would have to see a specialist, and be properly examined.

  5. Don't know about your eyes, but are you sure your intelligent enough to be a pilot.
