My eye is extremely itchy?

It does not hurt, and it isn't even red, but that little pink thing in the corner of my eye by my nose is kind of swollen, and whenever it gets swollen, it gets itchy. I woke up in the middle of the night, and it was itching, and i flushed it with water, and it didn't help, I took allergie medicine, hoping it was swollen from allergies, and I took a nap, hoping it would get better. I even cried! hoping that would run any irrirants out of my eyes, or wet them if they were too dry. None of this helped. What should I do?

  1. Often it is because the tear ducts are dry and they cause your eyes to feel itchy - gritty, etc.  The eye doctor recommends putting moisture back in your eyes - lots of drops.  If it worsens they can give you a prescription for it - my Mom had plugs put in her eye and that has helped quite a bit.

    DRY TEAR DUCTS

    --------------------------------------...

SYMPTOMS—The eyes seem dry all the time.

CAUSES—There is a small tear duct which keeps each eye moist, yet it does not seem to be working properly.

    TREATMENT—

    • Be sure and obtain adequate amounts of vitamin A (50,000 units daily). A lack of it causes small openings to close down. Also include enough essential fatty acids in your diet, along with more calcium.

    • Do not eat junk or processed foods.

  2. i have no idea what the cause is, but a drop of cold milk works so great!!! i had to wait 5 hours to get pinkeye medication for my eye and my friends dad told me a drop of cold milk, cuz he did water polo and got itchy eyes from chlorine like every day.
