Question:

My eye surgeon likes to look at my eyes because the nerve growth is like nothing he has seen what is it.?

the surgeon had his whole staff examine my eyes, he said most nerves in the eyes stop at a point but mine continued growing. the surgeon said this is something vary rare among humans but wouldn't tell me what it is. my eyes are fine.

  1. Maybe in your system the level of oncomodulin is higher than other people. Oncomodulin promotes the growth of optic nerves. The human oncomodulin gene maps to chromosome 7p1-p13.


  2. It appears you are describing how your optic nerve 'looks' compared to normal. Most likely you have myelinated nerve fibers. Looks sort of like a white, feathery, or brush stroke appearing lines coming from the nerve. Usually the myelination stops at the back of the eye. But in some people, it continues into the eye and along the nerve fibers. Sort of looks like white flames. Doesn't do anything or cause any problems, just 'looks' different from 'normal'. There's no treatment, nothing is 'wrong'.
