i always have little red lines in my eyes. i wear contacts and eye makeup. they have been this way for years! My eye doctor didnt mention anything at my last check up. They used to be kind of yellow when i didnt take out my contacts frequently, but now i take them out every night and the yellow is gone, but there are still the little "vein" looking things all over my eyes. also there seems to be a little black dot on the top of my eye ball. its not makeup, its actually inside the tissue, it doesnt hurt or anything but i was just curious what it was. i have it on both eyes, and i think there is one on the bottom of my eyeball too. i see it when i pull my eye lid up.

  1. Your eyes are being stressed.  Your eyes being red means that the blood vessels in your eyes are dilated, and that can be caused by many things.  One such cause could be high blood pressure (hypertension), although in your case, your contacts could very well be the cause of this... as your eyes are getting irritated, your body will send more bloodflow to the irritated area, causing the blood veins to open up making your eyes look red.

The dots are pretty much blood clots in your eyes.  Meaning, that some of those tiny blood vessels in your eyes burst, and the little mini-bleeding clotted up, causing little brown spots.  Many times, these go away after a while, but you have to find out whats causing your eyes to be stressed.  Hypertension would explain the dots on your eyes, but rubbing, or other "trauma" to the vessels also could be the culprit.

Hopefully it is just the contacts and not hypertension!  Best of luck to you, and go see a different eye-doc.  Honestly, opinions vary from doc to doc, so it doesnt hurt to talk to different doctors.

  2. Go see your doctor. you might be infected. I never heard of that before

  3. Hey, I have a little black spot too. I actually have two but I think they're both on the same eye. But mine are toward the bottom not the top of my eyeball, I can see it when I pull my bottom lid down. As far as I know that's nothing harmful, I think it's like what a freckle is on skin (but not exactly. You know what I mean though). It's just one of those things.

As for the red lines in your eyes, I just had a similar problem that I got checked out today (except mine was much much worse, with a lot of pain and redness). For me it was because my eyes weren't getting enough oxygen and I think that's what might be happening to you. Because your eyes get oxygen from the air and contacts kind of block that air, your eyes get stressed and they feel pressure to adapt, and that's why the red lines are there. Try switching to a new kind of contact lens (Acuvue Oasys? Or something that hydrates). Also, make sure when you take your contacts out that you're rinsing them with solution and putting them in fresh solution in your contact container. I really think that the constant contact use is what's causing this redness, especially because you mentioned that you used to not take your contacts out frequently. Get some cute glasses and wear them from time to time to give your eyes a break from your contacts (they make you look smart!) and remember to take good care of your eyes. For me the doctor said that it was a good thing I went in because it could have developed into corneal ulcers and those are really, really bad and painful too. So just take my advice and if it doesn't get better then go see a doctor! Good luck!
