on friday night I stayed at a friends house but didnt have my contact lens case or glasses with me (I wear contacts) so I slept with my contacts in. saturday morning I was ok at first and then my eyes started acting weird and I couldnt really focus, and the light seemed too bright. They got more bloodshot as they day went by. my eyelids feel swollen and something underneath them hurts whenever I blink. ive put a few "get the red out" drops in that barely worked and ive been putting a cold compress on my eyelids but they still hurt. whats wrong?? and no its not pink eye because ive had that before and this isnt like that and I have no crust or itchiness at all.

  1. you probably had an allergic reaction to having your contacts in all night. i suggest you take them out right away and go to your eye doctor to check them out. wear sunglasses over your emergency spare glasses since putting your contacts in again will just irritate your eyes more.

i suggest you don't wear your contacts for about a week, but please ask your eye doctor immediately by setting up an emergency appointment.

  2. You shouldn't sleep with your contacts on.

Try laying down with your eyes close for awhile.

If needed, go to a local store such as Walgreens or CVS since they have a pharmacy. Talk to a doc. there. Or contact your doctor. Good luck!

  3. You probably had them go on top of your eye or in a uncomfortable place and when you took them out they still hurt, got dirt on your eye and such.

  4. you left your contacts in when you should have removed them and your eyes are irritated.

you've removed your contacts, don't wear them for a day or two to give your eyes a chanced to rest and recover.

    don't sleep in them again.
