  1. I never really like to dive into the water with my goggles on as they almost always fall off when I hit the water. Not to mention, when they come off, it hurts your face somewhat.

Um.. Your putting both of your arms straight out next to each other, vertically, right? Perhaps you should watch a video on YouTube explaining how to dive into the water properly.

  2. I use to have a problem with this. Just tuck your head down. Don't look straight at the water when diving. This should help your goggles to stay on.

  3. Straighten your arms, then dive at an angle so you will have less of an impact.

  4. GuyHere,

To correctly dive off the blocks and keep your goggles from falling off you'll need to 'tuck' your chin before and during impact with the water. Make sure this doesn't affect your hand position during the dive.

The reason your goggles fall off is because of the angle of your entry and, more importantly, the angle of the surface of the fit of your goggles, i.e. your face, to the water. The pressure created by the entry and the force of the water against the top of the goggles is what pulls them off. By tucking your chin this pressure is relieved by the top of the head.

The racing start is a shallow dive but be sure to practice it in pools with a depth of at least 6 feet for safety.

You mentioned the impact hurts your face. This makes me believe that you're dive is too deep (the angle of your entry is too steep).

Go ahead and try my suggestions. If they don't help then I'd suggest having a professional coach invest a little personal/live training in adjusting your dive.

I hope this helps. Good luck...

  5. keep your chin tucked in.

  6. but you head down so the top of your head hits the water

  7. I'm thinking you should not be diving face first into water.  It's probably your entrance

  8. you should probly try putting your hands in front of your face??
