My face gets so oily & greasy!! Even when I clean my face well enough, my face gets so oily like about 10 minutes later! & I have an acne medication that dries out my skin, but my face gets so oily!

Is there a way to get rid of the oils? I already used Neutrogena, Clean & Clear, Noxzema, Sea Breeze, etc. I NEED something that works!!! I hate looking like I'm always sweating!

  1. My daughter is having a problem with oily facial skin. Seems like it looks oily even after washing.

Our Family Doctor has not been much help in this problem -- says it in the genes.

So before we make an appointment with a good Dermatologist, she has found that these products seem to work well fer her.

Make sure your face is washed then apply:

Garnier Shine control moisturizer. This product claims to have Zinc in it to absorb oil.

Then after a few minutes apply a thin layer of Clearasil vanishing cream. Important ( not the 5% benzoyle ).

Then keep handy some Clean & Clear oil absorbing pads. These little blue sheets soak up any excess oil.

This seems to be working for her at this time. All these products you can get at Wal-Mart.

  2. chlorhine takes all the oil and grease from ur face. so go to the pool often this summer...or whats left of it.

  3. try using a face wash thats

    especially lized for oily skin.

and try to wash your hands before you wash your face,

and change your pillow case very often.

  4. Rez, you are only the princess of grease - I am the queen of it!!

I saw the list of cleaners you are using and am now scared that you will soon take over my title!!  Products touted as "formulated for oily skin" actually strip the skin too much.  Your skin will actually get oilier in order to combat this (I know you think, "How could MY skin ever get oilier??")

Find a gentle, gentle cleanser and use it slightly more frequently than those ordinary people we call "normal" would do.  Don't strip oils from your skin, I promise you it will be a losing battle.  Several times a day blot the oil off your skin.  That will help a lot.

On the upside, I am fifty two and still as oily as I ever was, but I look WAY younger than my dry-skinned friends.  :)

  5. Well, the lady that I consult at my spa told me that when your skin is super dry, your skin tends to produce more oil in order to balance it out which means oily skin or breakouts. I would advice you to try to keep your skin balanced..not too dry and not too oily. May be you should try the face wash from the same brand that your medication is. Cuz I know that most of the acne medications come with face wash, toner, medication etc. Good luck :)

  6. I have the same problem. I have tried everything to stop it but the truth is that none of them really work. My solution is to carry around blotting paper and give my face the occasional blot and your well away

    Hope this helps xx

  7. So is my face.  I carry oil blotting tissues.  I think Cover Girl makes some, The Body Shop carries them.  Oil blotting Tissue.  Try those out.  They take the shine right away and don't clog your pores.  I wish I would have found them sooner.

      Good Luck to You

  8. I have extremely oily skin. Use a face wash specially formulated for oily skin...I also use prescribed benzoyl peroxide that dries out my skin. You can also use pressed powder, that's what I do. Like a loose powder that you apply to a brush and just brush your face over every few hours or so and it will stop you looking shiny! Good luck. x

  9. make sure that u wash ur face on a regular basis. but too much washing could irritate the skin

  10. I have an oily face too, ugh!  I use the clean and clear (or off-brand) oil absorbing sheets.  They come in a blue package and are about the size of a business card.  They work GREAT throughout the day if you need to remove some of the excess oil.  I'm not sure about actually solving the problem; I've heard that if you stop using so many products and let your face go back to natural then it will most likely not naturally be oily, but I'm not patient enough to try it out.  I usually just alleviate the problem by blotting off the oil during the day; it works great to remove the shine.

  11. Hello there.

Don't worry too much. My face is constantly oily too!

Here are some tips that I use:

    - Use a light, oil free moisterizer on your face. When your skin gets dried up, your oil glands produce more oil to make up for the lack of moisture. So regularly moisturize!

    - There are many products that are available to use. Something that reduces shine is a make up. Specifically, a loose powder. It comes in clear, or in your own skin tone, so you can use it to help the look of oil. Just use a powder brush (a blush brush will work too!) and sweep some powder (or powder foundation) on your skin every morning!

    - To soak up oil on the spot, you can use anything from paper towels to tissue paper. Just blot out the oil on your nose, T-zone, forehead, and face by pressing down on your skin in a blotting motion.

    - There are also products that come in creams and you can use them on your face to absorb the oil. You can usually find them in make-up or department stores.

    - Another option are oil absorbing cloths. They are small and convenient. They are basically paper-like cloths that absorb oil that are disposable. You can find them in make-up/department stores too. Try to get unscented ones.

Remember to always use what is best for YOUR skin. These are just some suggestions. I do not recommend some of these products/solutions if you have sensitive skin or allergies, so always make sure you know what you are putting on your skin to avoid rashes, etc.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

  12. There are three types of skin people have, dry, normal and oily. Where dry skin requires a little more application of moisturizer on the skin, normal skin requires a normal skin care routine but the oily skin needs the highest maintenance. Skin gets oily due to many factors as hormonal changes or imbalance especially in teen age, then genetic factors or climate conditions.

A teenager's oil glands produce more oil that is called sebum in body than others. It decreases with age when a person grows. Then the skin gets dry due to age, as oil glands don't produce so much oil.

Some people have it because their parents have the oily skin or at times climatic factors as rains, and humidity makes the skin look greasy and oily.

As I mentioned earlier that oily skin needs maximum care, as it's prone to acne, open pores, boils and pimples. There are many medicated soaps, gels and lotions available in market for the oily skin. Some nice established brands have come in the market with their entire cosmetic range for oily skin, as oily skin needs special care.

But using harmful chemicals on the skin is not the permanent solution. All these gels, face wash and creams for oily skin are pretty heavy in price too and everybody cannot afford them.

At home there are whole lots of things we can use in our day-to-day routine to keep our oily skin healthy and glowing without oil. To start with one should drink lots of water to detoxify the body. As pimples and acne come on the skin when the traces of oil are not washed away from the skin surface, they stick to the skin and burst into acne and pimples.

One should wash the face with clean water with mild soap. One can apply a little astringent on face by wiping off oil from the skin with a cotton ball having few drops of astringent on it. Mixing cucumber juice and few drops of lemon juice can make a good homemade astringent. Mixing them together and applying on the skin makes skin refreshing and less oily.

When one gets acne or pimples, one should never squeeze or pinch them as it will spoil the skin and will give it permanent scars. One should never leave oily skin unclean as dust and dirt stick to it so does pollution so as soon as one comes back home from out should wash his hands and skin. So that no outside dust and dirt is left on it.

One with oily skin should avoid all oily and saturated foods, as they will make your skin's appearance worse.

Whenever one squeezes sweet lime or oranges, should apply a little juice on face too. It will absorb the oil and will give the skin a fresh look. Same way one can rub lemon peel on the face and wash it after few minutes. It will remove the grease from the skin.

Tomato juice is good for open pores; it tightens the pores and makes them visibly small in size.

One can make face packs at home for oily skin: by adding some clay powder, lemon juice, a pinch of turmeric and apply it on the face and neck.

By making power of dried lemon or orange peel and mixing little curd in it, can apply it on face and neck. It will even lighten the skin and pimple scars from it.

By scrubbing or applying sandalwood powder with rose water on skin and washing it away when dried.

By adding curd and limejuice to gram flour and applying it on skin till it dry makes skin visibly less oily.

One can even rub fruits like papaya, cucumber and watermelon on skin to remove the grease.

Though oily skin requires more of cleanliness than other skin types, it even requires moisturizer so one should apply light water based moisturizer on the skin on daily basis.

And people with oily skin should keep in mind their skin type when buying any skin product or cosmetics. As when buying a sunscreen, one should remember that it should be particularly for oily skin.

They should avoid out much make up on skin and whatever make up is applied should be removed as soon as one comes back home.

When out one can wipe face with wet face tissues, so that no dirt and grease sticks on the skin for long and makes it look bad.

For oily skin one can opt for lukewarm water to wash it. Many people do think that scrubbers are good for oily skin though they can be real harsh on oily skin and tear the open pores and damage the acne and pimples on face. So if one really wants to use scrubber on oily skin to remove dead skin and black heads, one can make scrubber by dried lemon or orange peels and can rub skin gently with that powder.

As all these are external factors and the real cause of oily skin is internal by oil glands producing more sebum, one should not ignore that factor as one cannot do much about it, one can drink lots of water at least 8-10 glasses a day and should refrain from oily stuff can help a lot.

So by giving a little more care and attention oily skin can become the best looking skin, as it remains younger for long time than the other skin types.

Stick with the basics: The experts suggest cleansing your face two or three times daily with good old soap and water. Pack a premoistened cleansing pad if you won't be around a water basin throughout the day.

Step2 Understand that dermatologists and aestheticians often disagree on which types of soaps or cleansers to use'but all agree that once you find a product that works well for your skin, you should continue using it.

Step3 Follow the recommendations of dermatologists and shower or bathe in tepid rather than steaming-hot water. Hot water can strip your skin of needed moisture, while cold water can shock your skin.

Step4 Avoid using cleansers that tend to overdry skin. This paradoxically causes your skin to produce even more oil than usual.

Step5 Use only noncomedogenic moisturizers and sunscreen products'this means they're oil-free and won't clog pores.

Step6 Talk to your dermatologist about a class of drugs called retinoids, which reduce production in oil glands and shrink their size.

Step7 Keep in mind that oil glands are very sensitive'stimuli such as hormones, heat and (some say) fatty food can trigger them.

Step8 Remember that your efforts to keep your oily skin clear can only go so far, as some studies indicate that oily skin is hereditary.
