My family and i would like to relocate to panama city from England whats it like there?

We are a family of 5. twins of 15 & a ten yr old (all girls) My partner works in construction and i also have my own business, we would like to make afresh start in a new country and meet new people. We have all fallen inlove with panama not to mention the house prices ( the houses are massive!".....we want what everybody else wants nice area, good schools, low crime rates and good community spirits, somewhere safe to bring up the kids, if it exists. On researching panama it seems to have all the above including good immigration laws and more, its even no1 place to retire, but what bothers us the most is that we could have it all and a natural disaster just takes it away.The hurricanes are one of our biggest concerns. Is it reguarly threatened with hurricanes?, anybody whose got any answers or advice let us know as we are planning to visit in april. Blessins and best wishes, Noor

It looks like you have a beautiful family.  Congratulations.

Now about Panama, it definitely looks like you've done your homework, and that you've made enough research, so I won't bother with the regular virtual tour guide, avoid list, and must do's in Panama.

I've lived in Panama most of my life, and thank God Panama is away from Hurricane Alley.  As we are further down on the Central American Isthmus, the tradewinds take the hurricanes over the Caribbean, and away from Panama.

Earthquake wise, depending on where you live you might feel some tremors, but nothing serious.  Panama City is virtually tremorless.  The last heavy tremor we felt was probably 5 years ago (at least that I remember).  The Chiriqui region has more seismic activity as the Barú Volcano is located there.  Although it's been dormant for at least 3 centuries, you feel a bit of a shake every couple of days, specially if you're close to the volcano (Boquete, Cerro Punta, Volcan, Volcancito, Caldera).

Natural disasters are, as you know, unpredictable.  Sure the forecasts say that the tradewinds take the hurricanes over the Caribbean, but with all the changes in the weather you never know what will happen 30 or 50 years from now.  Same with earthquakes.  Tomorrow an earthquake might hit London or New York even though everyone is expecting it to hit California or any other of the active seismic regions in the world.

So in conclusion, as far as it looks, it's still safe to say that we're not expecting hurricanes or major earthquakes to hit anytime soon.

Yes, Panama is a great place to live and for children to grow up!

Natural disasters are very rare, hence why Panama is currently listed as one of the top 3 places in the world to consider as a good place to live!

Boquete and Bambito are approx. 30 minutes from the city of David and a top choice for the British, German, Canadian and Americans.  Panama City is another popular destination as is the Chitre area, Bocas del Toro and more.

There are several great areas in Panama to live and decision will depend on the climate you prefer, Boquete and Bambito are cooler, mountainous areas.  Bocas del Toro is a popular beach resort area on the Caribbean side of Panama.

You can find a lot more information on the internet.  Continue your research as you are doing now and plan to spend time in Panama this year.  Chances are... you'll love it.

Panama is a great place. the reason they built the Panama Canal there was because there are no hurricanes, tsunamis, volcanoes etc. Private schools are cheap and abundant. Crime is very low.

in my opinion, panama is NOT a good place to live, seriously!

the people are tooooo envious! especially when you're coming from another country!

its disgusting here...and its hard to stick in the right places
