My family emigrated from England at the turn of the century 1900's.

Question

Last name is common Lewis, but the original family name from Russia was Ruddaminsky. Any ideas where and how to research??

Did they change their surname when the moved for Russia to England?

Or from England to the US?

(If that is where they migrated from England).

Ancestry lists Alfred b.3/1899 (SR.?) and Alfred b. 6/1926 (JR.?), Yorkshire--W. Riding.  Also Michael, b. 1874. Click and they want to sell you the "World" version.  Good Luck.

Only thing I could find was the following:

Last name is spelled differently but it would have been pronounced the same.
